Unauthorized access to NRA data
Dear users, following a committed crime (hacking), unauthorized access to information contained in National Revenue Agency databases was carried out. On 15 July 2019, personal data of 4 million living individuals, 1.1 million deceased individuals, and nearly 200,000 foreign nationals was unlawfully published.
What information on foreign nationals has become available?
The unlawfully published data is in the form of CSV files containing:
- name of the person;
- date and place of birth;
- tax number;
- address;
- banking information.
It is important to underline that partial data of certain natural persons is affected, in a format requiring further processing before it can be used.
Notification to affected taxpayers:
The National Revenue Agency sought the assistance of partner tax administrations to inform the foreign nationals affected by the unauthorized access to NRA data.
If the partner tax administration agrees to support the Bulgarian NRA, it could notify the affected about 200 000 foreign taxpayers.
Please accept our deepest apologies for this situation.
